The "areas" shown on PlanIt are geographical entities, not all of which are planning authorities.

This interactive node chart shows the areas, their types and how they are all linked together.

The hierarchy is based solely on whether a parent area geographically encloses or significantly overlaps a child area.

Key:
  • Controls: Arrows are mostly intuitive but on the left hand side of a node a right facing arrow (>) means detach and show as the head node whereas a left facing arrow (<) means expand to the left. Click on an asterisk (*) to show the area and its planning applications in a new window.
